Withdrawal Policy – Acceleron Aerospace Journal
At Acceleron Aerospace Journal, we are committed to maintaining ethical standards in scholarly publishing, in full alignment with the principles set forth by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Authors submitting to our journal agree to abide by these ethical standards, including those governing the withdrawal of manuscripts.
1. Right of First Publication
By submitting a manuscript to Acceleron Aerospace Journal, authors grant the journal the right of first publication. As such, withdrawal of a manuscript after submission—especially after peer review—must follow a formal and ethical process.
2. Formal Request for Withdrawal
Manuscript withdrawal requests must:
-
Be submitted by the corresponding author.
-
Include a written statement signed by all co-authors.
-
Clearly state the reason for withdrawal.
-
Be sent directly to the editorial office.
Withdrawal is only valid once the Editor-in-Chief formally approves the request and the authors receive written confirmation from the editorial office. Authors may only submit the manuscript to another journal after receiving this confirmation.
3. Partial APC Payment Requirement
If the withdrawal is requested after peer review has begun, or if the manuscript has been provisionally accepted but is later withdrawn, the authors are required to pay a partial Article Processing Charge (APC). This fee constitutes 40% of the regular APC and is intended to offset the editorial and peer-review management costs already incurred by the journal.
4. Non-Response Considered Unethical Withdrawal
Lack of response from authors after peer review and provisional acceptance—especially in the absence of formal withdrawal—will be treated as unethical withdrawal. This includes ignoring communication regarding revisions, proofs, or publishing agreements.
5. Sanctions for Unethical Withdrawal
Unethical withdrawal, including resubmission or publication of the manuscript in another journal without formal approval, will result in the following consequences:
-
A five (5) year embargo on all authors involved from publishing in Acceleron Aerospace Journal.
-
Notification of the authors’ affiliated institutions, funding agencies, and research oversight bodies.
-
Reporting to indexing and abstracting databases.
-
Potential notification to COPE if serious misconduct is identified.
6. Ethical Compliance
Acceleron Aerospace Journal adheres to the guidelines provided by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) for handling ethical issues related to manuscript withdrawal, authorship, and publication misconduct. Authors are strongly encouraged to review COPE’s best practices before submission.
